PAUL Lee said he still wishes he was playing with Gilas Pilipinas as he praised the current squad for doing a good job in the Fiba Asia Championship in Changsha, China.

“Sana, kung may chance,” the Rain or Shine superstar admitted on Tuesday after the Elasto Painters’ tune-up game against Mahindra at Nega gym.

Lee was expected to rejoin the national squad after dishing out fine performances for Gilas in the 2014 Fiba World Cup.

But Lee failed to gain clearance from Rain or Shine management, which agreed to release the spitfire guard only if Gilas dropped Gabe Norwood.

“Kung ano lang siguro yung pinagkaloob sa atin, dun lang muna tayo,” Lee said.

The former Rookie of the Year is proud to see the nationals do well, especially after their impressive win over Iran on Monday.

Gilas blasted India, 99-65, on Tuesday to sweep the second round of play and clinch the top seed in its group for the quarterfinals.

“Magaling yung ginagawa nila ngayon, lalo na 'yung yesterday game nila against Iran,” Lee said. “Ibang klaseng puso yung pinakita nila, all out talaga sila. Si Calvin (Abueva), si Jayson (Castro), tsaka si Andray (Blatche), at lahat naman nag-contribute.”
