BELEAGUERED Rain or Shine guard Paul Lee is scheduled to meet with coach Yeng Guiao on Tuesday, hopeful that his first meeting with the fiery mentor can finally defuse the tension between the two parties after Lee’s contract expired last month.

The 6-foot guard will be accompanied by his agent, Lawrence Chongson, during the meeting.

PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial said he has personally talked to Chongson on Monday, reminding him to make sure he finds way to settle the issue the soonest possible time.

“Kinausap ko uli si Lawrence and sinabi niya sa akin na makikipag-usap nga daw sila (with Lee) bukas (Tuesday). Eh sinabi ko na rin kay coach Yeng na kakausapin nga siya,” Marcial told on Monday.

Marcial, who also acts as special assistant to commissioner Chito Salud, mentioned that the league top honcho had actually met with Chongson a few days ago, explaining to him that he wouldn’t want to end up arbitrating the impasse between Lee and his mother ballclub.

“KInausap ko si Lawrence, and sinabi ko sa kanya, kapag nag-arbitrate si commissioner, ano ang makukuha ni Paul Lee dun? Eh maximum contract naman ang offer. Sana huwag na nila paabutin dun (arbitration),” he added.

Lee has already showed up in the practice of Gilas Pilipinas the past two days, but kept mum on the issue surrounding his contract dispute with the Elasto Painters.

The combo guard out of University of the East currently has a bruised heel, but remains determined to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas which is set to leave this Saturday for the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
