PAO Javelona was about to go home to his hometown in Bacolod City to rest after San Miguel Alab Pilipinas won the Asean Basketball League (ABL) crown.

But that much-needed vacation was cut short when he pleasantly got a call he has been waiting for – a call-up from a PBA team in Globalport.

“Sobrang saya ko,” said Javelona, who was drafted in 2016 by Phoenix Petroleum but was left unsigned.

“Na-excite ako kasi dapat uuwi pa ako Bacolod after nag-champion kami. God’s will kaya ako andito ngayon.”

Javelona made his PBA debut on Saturday in the Batang Pier’s 92-87 loss to Magnolia in an out-of-town game in Angeles, Pampanga. The former National University guard finished with nine points and two assists.

On Wednesday, Javelona contributed three points and two assists in Globalport’s 116-94 win over NLEX.

“It feels good to be here. I’m happy na I get to play in the PBA. I’m so happy I really can’t explain how I feel,” Javelona said.

Javelona said he is happy playing for Globalport where head coach Pido Jarencio has given him the confidence to shoot from the outside.

Just do what you do. If you are open, just shoot it. Pumapasok naman ‘yung tira ko nung first game,” said Javelona.

“As a team, welcome naman ako sa team.

Javelona said his main adjustment is the PBA’s physicality as well as being a point guard in the big league.
