NLEX guard Kevin Alas rolls out old college 'acrobatic' shot to put an end to Alaska threat

KEVIN Alas capped another solid game for NLEX with the dagger of the night as the Road Warriors reached the semifinals of the PBA Philippine Cup with an 87-83 win over the Alaska Aces on Wednesday night.

Alas finished with a game-high 18 points along with nine boards and his acrobatic baseline drive over two Alaska defenders gave the Road Warriors a four-point cushion with a 1:14 minutes to go.

The former Letran star said it was a shot he used to make in college.

Taas ng pektus eh," he said.

"Parang 'yun na 'yung tira ko since college pa, thank God nagamit ko, endgame pa," he added.

The Gilas Pilipinas guard is glad to raise his game during the playoffs after struggling to find his form early in the season while playing alongside celebrated rookie Kiefer Ravena.

But for the son of Phoenix coach Louie Alas, it's all about consistency.

"Struggle ako start of the conference.

I just had to be patient.
