NEW Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) commissioner Chito Narvasa served as special guest during the opening of the 15th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) on Saturday at the Cebu Coliseum.

In his speech, Narvasa said he wished to see most of the Cebuano players right in front of him to become part of Asia’s first ever play-for-pay league someday.

“Cebu has the most competitive league outside of Manila and it has produced a lot of exceptional players. There's June Mar Fajardo right here who's the league MVP, and in the past I've coached Jojo Lim, Peter Naron and Boy Cabahug,” Narvasa recalled.

“I expect many more to join very soon.”

Narvasa also encouraged the players to appreciate the opportunities given to them, both on and off the floor.

“Be grateful to your schools that you are being given this arena to showcase your talents. But also do well in school because this will also open up other opportunities for you,” said the former Purefoods and Shell coach.
