Mahindra rookie free agent Jackson Corpuz gets hit with P5K fine right on PBA debut

TNT Katropa coach Nash Racela, Gilas pool member Norbert Torres, and rookie free agent Jackson Corpuz topped the latest list of personalities fined by the PBA Commissioner’s Office in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup.

Racela was slapped a total of P6,000, while Torres and Corpuz P5,000 each for separate infractions committed during their respective games last week.

The soft-spoken TnT mentor was hit with a P5,000 fine for a 'disrespectful gesture towards the league technical committee,' and another P1,000 for 'disrespectfully addressing a game official' during the team’s match against Mahindra.

Torres and Corpuz were both fined for flagrant foul penalty 1 infractions. The Phoenix big man committed the violation against San Miguel Beer, while Corpuz in a game against the Texters right in his first game as a pro for the Floodbuster.

A total of P23,000 in fines were accumulated by the league last week, all of which go directly to the PBA Players’ Trust Fund.

Penalized for P1,000 each were Star head coach Chito Victolero (technical foul) against Barangay Ginebra, Phoenix import Jameel McKay (dress code violation), Calvin Abueva (technical foul) in Alaska’s game vs. Meralco, Jayson Castro (technical foul) against NLEX.

The rest of those fined (also P1,000 each) were Globalport import Malcolm White (technical foul) against Blackwater, Kyle Pascual (technical foul) against Globalport, JR Quinahan (technical foul), and Blackwater team manager Johnson Martinez (P1,000).
