MOALA Tautuaa said his highlight reel dunk on former PBA MVP Arwind Santos was not for show - and definitely not a sign of disrespect to the San Miguel Beer star.

That’s just the way he is, according to the top rookie pick of TnT.

“That’s cool, that’s fun. I like dunking,” said the 6-foot-7 Tautuaa when asked about him 'posterizing' the lanky Santos in one play in the fourth quarter of the Tropang Texters’ 97-84 loss to the Beermen on Saturday night in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup.

The Fil-Tongan finished with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, but struggled to hold his own against the Beermen’s towering frontline of June Mar Fajardo, Yancy de Ocampo, Gabby Espinas, and Santos.

Tautuaa was held to only a single rebound in 19 minutes of play that also saw him commit three turnovers, so much so he considered his dunk on Santos among the few moments of his time on the court.

“Let’s get a positive out of it,” he said smiling. “Hopefully, I get into the top plays (of the week).”

Truth to tell, according to Mo, he was expecting the Beermen – Arwind included – to challenge him as he went strong to the basket.

To his surprise, none among them made an effort to contest his shot.

“I was ready to get fouled. I was thinking here comes Arwind, here comes June Mar, here comes a lot of body contact,” he recalled about the sequence.

“But they kind of shy away from it, so there’s nothing to it. It’s a clean transaction.”
