MERALCO import Joshua Davis was apparently prepared for everything Ginebra threw at him in his PBA debut on Tuesday night.

But he wasn't warned about this one.

According to Meralco team manager Paolo Trillo, the high-flying import lost his mobile phone to a pickpocket moments shortly before stepping into his car at the Mall of Asia Arena's parking lot.

Trillo said Davis obliged some fans' requests for photo opportunities as he emerged from the back entrance of the Pasay City arena leading to the open parking lot.

“There were people just standing behind the bar (of the Arena), so when he stepped beyond the bar, he was heading to his car, several fans wanted to take pictures so they had group pictures with him,” Trillo told Spin.ph on Wednesday.

"Dun na siya nadukutan."

The incident proved a dampener for the unheralded Davis, who put on a show in the Bolts' 85-74 win over Ginebra, scoring 25 points and grabbing 24 rebounds while going up against Meralco's original choice Michael Dunigan.

“I’m not sure what model of Samsung phone it was but he said it was his personal phone, the one he used in the US. He was saddened because that’s where he stored his files, photos and contacts,” said the amiable Meralco team official.

Trillo said the team already reported the incident to Mall of Asia security personnel, hopeful that security will be tightened in and around the area in the future.
