Marc Pingris hopeful he won't have to carry offensive load for misfiring Star in Game 4

MARC Pingris scored more than usual in Star's 73-62 defeat to Barangay Ginebra in Game Three of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals last Monday, but he doesn't think it's a good sign for his team.

Pingris took 14 shots and had no assist in the Game Three loss after averaging five assists in the first two games of the best-of-seven series, incidentally both of which star won.

But Pingris really had no choice with Star's shooters misfiring.

Asked if he's gonna look for his shots again on Game Four on Wednesday night, Pingris hopes that it won't have to come down to that.

As a team, Star was held to just 27 of 92 shooting for a 29 percent clip. The Hotshots fared even worse from beyond the three-point arc where they made just five of 27 shots for 18%.

As disheartening as those stats look, Pingris continues to rallies his teammates to just keep shooting, in the hope of opening up Ginebra's defense to Star's big men.

"Kailangan nila yun e.

If he has his way, he'd rather have more assists and no points.

"Ang ganda ng mga nilaro namin 'yung kahit na zero points ako pero assists ko five, I'm happy na nakaka-assist ako," he added.
