Larry Fonacier picked PBA Player of the Week after solid game for NLEX against San Miguel

NLEX is back on track and within striking distance of the leaders, thanks to big performances by Larry Fonacier.

For powering the Road Warriors to their sixth win in eight outings, Fonacier has been picked Player of the Week by the PBA Press Corps.

NLEX downed league giant San Miguel and is in fourth spot behind Meralco, Ginebra and Star.

The 6-foot-2 Fonacier knocked down two huge three-point shots in the dying moments.

The 35-year-old Fonacier, acquired last May in a three-team trade, scored 8 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter, added four rebounds and issued three assists and was picked PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of Aug 21 to 27.

Fonacier was selected over Rain or Shine guard Jericho Cruz and big man Raymond Almazan, Blackwater forward Bambam Gamalinda and Mike DiGregorio, TNT’s Kelly Williams and Roger Pogoy, Ginebra’s Greg Slaughter and Scottie Thompson.

Fonacier is averaging 9.38 points, 3.75 rebounds and 3.25 assists this conference.

The Road Warriors will take a week off and will be back in action Sunday against the GlobalPort Batang Pier.
