LA Tenorio didn’t mind missing out on another All-Star appearance as he focused his efforts, instead, on Barangay Ginebra’s preparation in its return from the break in the Governors’ Cup.

While Japeth Aguilar, Mark Caguioa, Joe Devance, and Scottie Thompson represented the Gin Kings in the annual showcase, Tenorio used the break to rejuvenate and it paid off in their 107-95 victory over Blackwater on Wednesday night.

The Ginebra star playmaker registered 23 points as he made all but two of his 12 shots, while adding five assists, three boards, two steals in 34 minutes against the Elite.

“Nakapahinga ako eh. Wala ako sa All-Star eh,” Tenorio, one of this year's top All-Star snubs, said after the game. “Siguro ginawa lang namin, tinake advantage lang namin 'yung All-Star break.”

“May tendency nga after a long break ‘di ba na mawala yung momentum, so challenge lang talaga sa amin 'tong game na 'to,” he added. “Maganda dun is nag-respond kami dun sa challenge na binigay sa amin ni coach Tim.”

Tenorio knew when to shoot and when to pass as he orchestrated the Gin Kings’ offense with precision on the way to dishing out five of the team’s 31 assists.

“Yun yung barometer namin eh,” Tenorio said of his team’s assist total. “And makikita naman natin na every game ibang player yung nag e-excel. I think close to four or five players in double digits so I think it's a good sign for us that we're really sharing the ball.”

Justin Brownlee led the sharing of wealth with eight assists, while Sol Mercado had five, Joe Devance and Mark Caguioa dished out four apiece, and Japeth Aguilar added three dimes.

“Ang goal namin ngayon, it doesn't matter who scores as long as we move the ball and we win,” Tenorio said. “Yun lang ang mindset namin every game.”
