WHILE most are on Holy Week break, the grind continues for Barangay Ginebra during the Holy Week, with practice sessions on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

“May penitensya kaming sarili,” Gin Kings star LA Tenorio said with a chuckle.

The Kings practiced at the Upper Deck gym in Pasig on Thursday and had another scheduled on Friday even after coming off a statement 113-98 victory over Star last Sunday.

Tenorio said the Gin Kings already had their three-day break from Monday to Wednesday.

“Para hindi kasama sa traffic,” he said, probably referring to the gridlock of cars heading to the provinces.

The Gin Kings take a break on Black Saturday before returning to training on Easter Sunday ahead of their next PBA Commissioner’s Cup game on Wednesday against NLEX.

Despite going to practice on Thursday and Friday, Tenorio said he will still try to do his Holy Week routine, including abstaining from meat on Good Friday.

“Every year, I do Visita Iglesia either Thursday or Friday,” the 32-year-old Batangas native said. “I used to do it with my family and cousins, but this time, baka with the family here and kids.”

“We’ll spend time with the family,” he added. “Konting break muna sa basketball. Maganda na nananalo rin kami, at least hindi rin ako masyado mag-iisip about the games.”
