KIEFER Ravena could go as high as the No. 1 overall pick in the PBA Draft on Sunday, but he still performed with the eagerness of a projected fourth-rounder that's trying to prove his worth on Monday.

The amateur star was all business in Day One of the Draft Combine where he unleashed his entire offensiv repertoire to lead his team to an unbeaten record in the group stage and advance to the playoffs of the mini tournament.

"(It's) a short two-day tournament that will be the last chance for everybody to be seen by the PBA scouts before the draft day, so talagang magiging intense yung competition," Ravena said.

It seems the former Ateneo star also wanted to impress his dad and TNT assistant, Bong, who was also scouting at the Combine.

"Wala eh, magkakalaban kami so hindi niya ako binibigyan ng advice," the younger Ravena said with a chuckle.

Father and son are indeed expected to be opponents in the league. As it stands, the Texters are picking 11th overall - long after Ravena is expected to be taken.

Anyway, Ravena didn't need the advice of his father as far as knowing the importance of the Combine.

"Siyempre this is a showcase," Ravena said. "This is the combine where you can showcase your talents, your skills and a lot more. So if you’re here, you have to give it your best, you can’t relax.

"That’s why when I was doing all the skills, I had to make sure I’d win every competition, as much as I can kasi talagang ito yung chance ko na if ever, i-increase mo pa yung experience mo dito da combine," he added after topping the leap, speed, and agility tests.

After boosting his stock, Ravena is ready to play under coach Yeng Guiao if ever he ends up being the No. 2 overall pick.

"Well if ever NLEX na ang kumuha sa akin, I’m excited to be under Coach Yeng," Ravena said. "I’ve been under a fiery coach also such as Coach Jamike. I guess that was a good practice for me, being under Coach Jamike. But I don’t think Coach Jamike is anywhere close to how Coach Yeng is.

"I’m very excited," he added "I’ve talked to Coach Yeng a couple of times prior to the combine. So hopefully everything pans out."
