KG Canaleta penalized P7.5 K, Belga poorer by P5K after another round of fines

JUST a game back and KG Canaleta already found himself poorer by P7,500.

The Mahindra shooting guard was the slapped with the corresponding fine for the flagrant foul 1 (landing spot) he committed against Meralco’s Jared Dillinger in the two teams’ playoff for the no. 4 seed and the last twice-to-beat advantage in the PBA Governors Cup Wednesday night.

It was the first game for Canaleta since missing the last few games of the eliminations for the Enforcer after undergoing appendectomy. He finished with 10 points and missed a potential game-tying three-pointer in the dying seconds of a 104-99 loss.

Rain or Shine  big man Beau Belga was also called for a flagrant foul 1 against Phoenix import Eugene Phelps, but got away with a lesser penalty of P5,000. The Elasto Painters lost to the Fuel Masters, 105-94, in their do-or-die match for the eighth and last quarterfinals berth.

Three other players were also fined for various infractions.

John Wilson of Phoenix was hit with P5,000 for tripping with contact – also considered as flagrant foul 1 – Meralco rookie Chris Newsome P3,000 for flopping, and Rabel-Al-Hussaini also of the Bolts, P1,000, for pulling down his shorts in front of the public.
