Bad news for Talk 'N Text fans.

Prolific rookie Kevin Louie Alas is set to undergo a surgery on his left ankle to repair a torn peroneal tendon, cutting short an impressive rookie season in the pBA.

The high-scoring guard out of Letran was initially diagnosed with a severe ankle sprain, but result of his MRI scan revealed on Tuesday a tear on tendons on the lateral part of his ankle.

Before agreeing to surgery, Alas bared he tried to seek alternative options like Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) to hasten the healing of the tissue.

Kailangan daw operahan,” said Alas as he prepares himself for surgery to be done by famed osports medicine doctor Raul Canlas.

“Sayang talaga. Kasi struggling pa naman team namin. Kaso mahirap naman isakripisyo career ko. Sumunod na lang sa duktor,” he said.

Until he suffered the ankle injury during the last Commissioner’s Cup finals, Alas was one of Talk n’ Text’s most consistent players and a candidate for the Rookie of the Year award alongside teammate Matt Ganuelas-Rosser.
