Talk 'N Text gets Alas in final shuffle; Canaleta goes to NLEX, Rodriguez to Blackwater
Rookie Kevin Alas is finally joining Talk 'N Text while KG Canaleta is moving to NLEX under a three-team trade proposal now awaiting the approval of the Office of the PBA Commissioner. Jerome Ascano

THE long-awaited transfer of Kevin Alas to Talk 'N Text is finally complete.

This after officials of the Tropang Texters, Blackwater Elite and the NLEX Road Warriors agreed on a revised version of the initial deal that was discussed during the PBA board's annual planning session in Seoul, South Korea last week.

Under the tweaked deal, Blackwater kicked off the movement by sending its 2015 first-round pick to Talk 'N Text for journeyman KG Canaleta.

Blackwater then shipped Canaleta to NLEX for Alas, who was immediately shipped by the Dioceldo Sy-owned team to the Tropang Texters for its 2015 first-round pick and veteran forward Larry Rodriguez.

The deal was approved by the office of Commissioner Chito Salud on Thursday afternoon.

The transaction was the final version of a long-drawn transaction that started when Alas, the No. 2 pick overall in the last rookie draft, was sent by Rain or Shine to NLEX for a 2015 first-round pick even though his real destination was Talk 'N Text.

Talk 'N Text has been finding ways to get Alas from sister team NLEX, even tinkering with a deal that initially involved veteran forward Danny Seigle, who will now be staying with the Texters.

Danny Ildefonso, who was picked up by Blackwater in the last dispersal draft, has also been given an unconditional release, paving the way for his return to the Meralco camp.
