JUNE Mar Fajardo saved his best for last to lead San Miguel Beer in its 104-98 win over Tropang TNT on Friday night that sealed for them the top seeding in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals.

The SMB superstar had only four points entering the payoff period, before scattering 14, including four straight on back-to-back inside incursions that highlighted a 10-0 blast that turned the around.

“Ni-remind ni coach sa amin na ito na 'yung start ng playoffs namin,” Fajardo said. “Alam naman natin na malakas 'yung TNT, andun pa si David (Simon).”

Simon had for the most part gotten the better of their matchup down low, with the American big man having a handful of perfectly timed blocks against the reigning league MVP that factored in his slow start.

But Fajardo kept his patience in the paint and was eventually rewarded down the stretch, taking advantage of the attention SMB import Tyler Wilkerson has been drawing.

“Medyo napapagaan 'yung trabaho ko eh, putback-putback na lang ako,” Fajardo said. “Kasi masipag 'yung import namin tas magaling so ayun.”

“Nangangapa pa nga ako e,” insisted the 6-foot-10 slotman, who was only in his third game back from a knee injury. “Hirap talaga pag galing injury, back to zero ka talaga eh, so kailangan ko mag catch up din.”

“Gagawin ko lahat makabalik sa game shape ko,” he added.
