With SMB's Grand Slam bid foiled, June Mar Fajardo trains sights on Philippine Cup quadruple
"Pwede kami makabuo ng history uli, four straight na All Filipino conference titles," says June Mar Fajardo. Jerome Ascano

JUNE Mar Fajardo wore all black, his eyes ready to leak like a busted faucet after San Miguel’s grand slam bid came to an end.

But he was strong enough to fight back the tears while answering questions from a handful of reporters for almost three minutes on Wednesday.

The three-time MVP actually had a solid outing, with 19 points, 22 rebounds and five blocks but what was expected to be a dogfight turned into a blowout, with Ginebra marching on to the semifinalsof the Governors Cup.

"Ganun talaga. Di naman mahihina yung kalaban e. Try again next year," said Fajardo.

"Pinaghandaan talaga kami e. Talo talaga. Hindi mo naman maipapanalo lahat e."

It was the team's worst loss in the season-ending conference, but Fajardo refused to dwell on that anymore.

While the grand slam bid has ended, the SMB main man can look forward to battling for a fourth straight Philippine Cup triumph.

"Move on na lang. next conference bawi kami," he said. "Pwede kami makabuo ng history uli, four straight na All Filipino conference titles."
