THE All-Star break has given San Miguel Beer star slotman June Mar Fajardo enough time to recover from a severe left sprained ankle and be ready for the expected rugged, physical match-up against Rain or Shine on Friday.

The 6-10 Fajardo, the top vote-getter in the recent PBA All-Star weekend in Palawan, spent much of his time last week resting his left ankle and icing it to fasttrack its healing process.

"Di naman siya ganun ka-seryoso, pero pahinga lang tapos yelo, kaya nung Monday nakapag-practice na uli ako," Fajardo told Spin.ph on Thirsday.

The Gilas Pilipinas mainstay sprained his ankle during San Miguel's 102-91 win over Barako Bull on March 2.

Fajardo intimated that he really wanted to play in the All-Star, but the possibility of making the ankle sprain worse forced him to skip the annual festivities altogether.

But now that he's ready to see action, Fajardo wanted to make the most of the opportunity since another loss would mean an early vacation for the Philippine Cup champions.

"Si AZ (Reid) okay naman, pero sana manalo," added the reigning PBA MVP.

The Beermen enter Friday's do-or-die game against the Elasto Painters with a 2-6 win-loss record, good for 11th spot. They may need to sweep their last three matches to make the eight-team playoffs.
