RAIN or Shine was left one big man less during its PBA Governors Cup clash against NLEX on Sunday as Jewel Ponferada served out a one-game suspension for the two flagrant fouls he committed during the team’s 103-88 win against Mahindra over the weekend.

Ponferada was called for a pair of F1 (landing spots) on Enforcer Aldrech Ramos and Mark Yee.

The one against Yee occurred at the 3:18 mark of second period just as the veteran forward was shooting a three, while the incident with Ramos came during the fourth quarter with Mahindra trailing, 77-71.

Ramos landed awkwardly after the foul was committed and had to be taken out briefly.

“Yes, yung sa flagrant fouls niya na landing spot against (Mark) Yee and Aldrech (Ramos),” confirmed media bureau chief Willie Marcial.

The power forward out of National University finished with four points and five rebounds in 12 minutes of action against the Enforcer.

Chris Tiu also didn’t suit up for the Elasto Painters against the Road Warriors owing to a cut on his eyebrow. The four-year guard also missed the team’s game against Mahindra.

Without their two back-up players, the Elasto Painters failed to protect a 21-point lead and lost to NLEX, 111-99.
