JERWIN Gaco takes probably his last shot at keeping his PBA career alive, at least this season, as he's set for a tryout with GlobalPort next week.

After failing to land a roster spot at Rain or Shine, the free agent big man asked Globalport alternate governor Erick Arejola if he could try out for the Batang Pier, whose same franchise (Harbour Centre) he played for in the defunct Philippine Basketball League.

Gaco said he will report on Tuesday when the Batang Pier hold their first practice since returning from Doha where they faced the Qatar national team in a tune-up game last Friday.

"Last chance na," Gaco said when bumped into the free agent cager while he was grocery shopping at Robinsons Magnolia on Sunday.

If it won't bear fruit, the 35-year-old cager said he'll try out for a spot in one of the Asean Basketball League (ABL) teams.

"Gusto ko pa rin maglaro," Gaco said as he held his daughter Jillian, 9, for a photo.

The 35-year old forward has played in the PBA the past seven seasons, but found himself out of roster spot when Star opted not to renew his contract after trading way his good friend James Yap.
