THE extent of the injury suffered by Rain or Shine guard Jericho Cruz is yet to be determined, but he is already listed as doubtful for Game Four of the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup semifinals series against San Miguel on Monday.

The sophomore player out of Adamson immediately underwent an MRI test Saturday night after hurting his knee late in the tightly-fought match which the Elasto Painters won, 111-106.

The MRI result however, will only be known on Monday.

A Rain or Shine insider said the team hopes it could just be a simple case of strained ligament, but officials are keeping their fingers crossed it is not an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury.

The possible absence of the 25-year-old Cruz could be an added blow to the Elasto Painters’ cause after earlier losing big man Raymond Almazan for the first rest of the series due to an ankle injury.

Cruz, who is averaging 10.0 points per game in the all-Filipino conference, fell hard on the floor after being bumped by Marcio Lassiter as the San Miguel gunner tried to steal the ball with five seconds remaining and the Beermen trailing the Elasto Painters, 107-106.

The Rain or Shine guard was later wheeled out of the Smart Araneta Coliseum on a stretcher as Lassiter was whistled for a Flagrant Foul 1.

The Elasto Painters lead the best-of-seven series, 2-1.
