RAIN or Shine star gunner Jeff Chan is a question mark for Game One of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals against Talk 'N Text on Wednesday night and is in danger of sitting out the entire championship series.

Chan is hobbled by a plantar fasciitis, a painful disorder affecting the heel and the underside of the foot. He has sat out the semifinal series against Meralco and is a game-time decision for the series opener at the Mall of Asia Arena.

"Masakit pa rin eh. Sa labas wala nang maga, pero sa loob medyo tender pa eh,” said Chan of an injury which doctors blamed on wear and tear.

The Gilas Pilipinas mainstay said he will try to play in Game One, but will likely pack it up for the conference if the pain persists.

“Normally two weeks to one month ang required na pahinga 'run eh. Nakaka dalawang lingo pa lang ako,” he added. “Mamaya depende siguro, susubukan ko. Kung masakit, hindi ko na lang pipilitin.

“Nag-usap na kami ni coach Yeng (Guiao) eh. Gusto raw niya tingnan sa game mamaya kung kaya ko na o hindi pa. Sabi niya 'pag di ko raw kaya ipahinga ko na lang,” he said.

The former FEU forward bared his itch to play in the finals, especially now that the Raymund Yu and Terry Que franchise is gunning for only its second championship and revenge against playoffs nemesis Talk 'N Text.

“Gusto ko talagang lumaro. Kaso kung masakit naman, mahirap maglaro at baka maging liability pa nila ko at hindi rin ako makatulong,” he said.

The series opener will largely dictate his status for the rest of the finals, Chan said.

“Depende talaga after the game mamaya. 'Pag di ko kaya, baka hindi na rin ako palaruin ni coach Yeng totally,” said the Bacolodnon cager.

“Sa tinatakbo nila (Rain or Shine teammates), mukhang kaya naman nila, pero ako gusto kong maglaro. Gusto kong makatulong talaga. Kaso ayaw ko namang pilitin,” he said.

Rain or Shine’s team therapist JD Calinawan bared that Chan still was able to join their practice on Monday but complained of severe pain in his right foot afterwards.

“Kahapon nakasali siya sa ensayo eh. Pero nagre-reklamo pa rin siya ng pananakit. After the game nga, namimilipit pa,” said Calinawan.

“Hindi ko pa rin alam kung lalaro siya mamaya, kasi tatanungin ko pa lang siya before the game kung kaya niyo o hindi,” added the Rain or Shine therapist, who bared that Chan also undergoing other forms of treatment like acupuncture, ice treatment, and shoe modification.
