Is it Ryan Lochte? Or 'Son Goku' perhaps? JC Intal reveals inspiration behind new look

IT seems being sidelined for too long makes you do something out of the blue – or, in JC Intal's case, out of the blonde.

Intal, who had been out for over two months after undergoing ankle surgery, decided to dye his hair blonde recently after he was also inspired by the hairdo of controversial American swimmer Ryan Lochte in the Rio Olympics.

“Napapanood ko nung Olympics si Lochte then sabi ko, 'Okay ‘tong buhok na ‘to ah,'” the Phoenix star said in short chat with “Sinubukan ko lang, wala rin magawa eh.”

“Sabi ko, baliktad kasi kung kailan tumanda, tsaka nagpapakulay,” the 32-year-old cager added with a laugh.

Intal was acutally going for Lochte’s ash gray color, but stylists couldn’t pull it off. Lochte's hair turned green after a few dips in the chlorine-filled pool.

“Ang tagal nila makuha yung color, so hinayaan ko na lang na ganyan,” he said. “Yung mascot namin tamang-tama, parang Dragon Ball Z, so sabi ko stay na lang, Son Goku.”

Intal, who unveiled his look in his conference debut last Wednesday in the Fuel Masters’ loss to Ginebra in Antipolo, has seemed to grow comfortable with it.

“Tinatamad na rin ako magpakulay ng black eh so antayin ko na lang mag-itim siya ulit,” he said. “Wala na rin ako pakialam kung ano isipin nila. Panindigan ko na, nandyan na eh.”

Intal now hopes his new look brings good luck as the Fuel Masters seek to extend their Governors’ Cup campaign with a playoff against Rain or Shine on Wednesday.
