JAYJAY Helterbrand made sure to make an impact in a rare appearance for Ginebra late in a thrilling 85-83 Meralco win in Game Four of the PBA Governors' Cup Finals on Friday night.

Playing for the first time in the playoffs, Helterbrand joined forces with longtime backocurt partner Mark Caguioa to bring the Kings back after trailing by as much as 13 points in the third period.

The former PBA MVP contributed two points and the same number of rebounds and assists in almost 10 minutes of play, but saw Ginebra come up short as the Bolts escaped with an 85-8 win.

"It felt good. That's all I've been waiting for. I've been wanting to play and contribute to the team. Just kinda came up short today," he said after the thrilling match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"I just wanna help. It doesn't matter what my role is. I'll do whatever it takes. For me, it's harder to watch the game than to be out there on the court," he added.

Helterbrand, who sparked a Game Four surge during Ginebra's run to the championship in this conference last season, feels he could have done more for the Gin Kings.

Given another chance in Game Five, Helterbrand vowed to lay everything on the line.

"Any time I get a chance to play... I'm gonna go out there and give my all regardless until I can't run anymore. That's the way I've always been and that's how I'm gonna continue to play," he said.

Helterbrand, however, knows it will take everything for Ginebra to repeat over Meralco.

"They're a good team. They won't be in the finals if they weren't. Thats how the series goes. Everyone was probably thinking we're gonna sweep them but no, they're the No. 1 team in the conference," he said.

"It's not gonna be easy. Just like what they did when they were down 0-2 they didn't give up. That's got to be our mentality. Now it's our turn to bounce back."
