JAMES Yap bid farewell to his former Star Hotshots team on Thursday and showed eagerness to enter a new chapter in his PBA career as he joins a rejigged Rain or Shine squad.

The two-time PBA MVP told SPIN.ph he made his goodbyes to the team that drafted him and led to seven titles through the squad’s Viber group chat, but he also bared his excitement with the upcoming reunion with his former PBL squad.

“May Viber group kami (Star) nagpaalam ako sa kanila. I wish them well and ako naman looking forward na sa new team ko. Babalik lang din ako sa PBL team ko,” said Yap, who joins Rain or Shine’s practice starting next week.

Yap was grateful for the support and looked back fondly at the memories he made with the Purefoods franchise, but also admitted to feeling helpless as he had told SPIN.ph in a previous interview expressing his desire to retire with the team.

“Syempre nagpapasalamat ako sa 12 years na pinagsamahan namin ng teammates ko and coaches, salamat din sa pag-aalaga ng management,” he said.

“Nakakalungkot pero ganoon talaga, di naman natin hawak yan. Tatanggapin na lang natin ang desisyon nila,” added Yap.
