AFTER a breakout performance in Game One, Ian Sangalang was held in check in San Miguel’s 92-77 victory over Magnolia that tied the PBA Philippine Cup Finals at one game apiece on Sunday.

Two days after exploding for 29 points, the pride of Lubao, Pampanga was limited to just 11 points and five rebounds while committing four turnovers in the loss.

Sangalang was quick to credit the adjustment of the Beermen’s swarming defense on him soon as he gets the ball in the post.

“Pagdating ko sa poste, nagco-collapse sila. May naghe-help sa gilid, kada-dribble ko may tumatapik. Okay yung adjustment nila, by next game siguro, may laban naman kami dun,” said Sangalang.

The former San Sebastian star nonetheless remained confident that he can make the necessary adjustments come Game Three.

“Ano naman ako e, kahit anong nangyayari diyan, enjoy lang ako. Next game, yun pa rin ang mindset ko, buhos pa rin, laro pa rin.”

One good thing that Sangalang did in this match, however, was help limit counterpart June Mar Fajardo. After a 31-point, 18-rebound explosion in Game One, the four-time PBA MVP was limited to just 12 points on Sunday.

For Sangalang, that was just half of the job done as limiting Fajardo opened up the game for San Miguel’s shooters and that’s something that they need to work on if they want to take control of the series again.

“Na-limit namin si June Mar, yung shooters naman ang nakaka-shoot. Kailangan may game plan kami sa pick and roll nila. Kailangan ma-review namin kung ano yung dapat gawin. Mahirap yung June Mar-Cabagnot o June Mar-Lassiter. Kailangan may panlaban kami dun,” he said.
