Gilas buildup goes full blast as team leaves for Estonia pocket tournament
Gilas sneaked in one final practice before leaving for Estonia on Monday night.

GILAS Pilipinas steps up its preparations for the Fiba Asia Championship as it left for Estonia for a pocket tournament on Monday night.

The national team pushed through with their flight after the squad received their visas on Monday afternoon.

The Filipino dribblers will play the Netherlands, Iceland, and the host nation in a three-day tourney starting on Thursday. They are expected to be back on Monday.

“It’s a long trip,” said Gilas coach Tab Baldwin, whose team has been training almost everyday for the entire month.

Troy Rosario and Moala Tautuaa are part of the delegation, forcing the consensus top PBA draft picks to miss the two-day Combine starting on Wednesday as well as the draft proceedings itself on Sunday.

Baldwin has brought along assistants Jong Uichico, Alex Compton, and Josh Reyes, while Norman Black (Meralco) and Nash Racela (Far Eastern University) stayed behind due to separate commitments.

The national team sneaked in one last practice session on Monday morning at the Moro Lorenzo gym inside Ateneo campus.
