ILOILO – They rarely meet as opponents in the pros, and the one time they do share the same floor, they’re on the same team.

June Mar Fajardo and Greg Slaughter relished their team-up after anchoring the Visayas All-Stars in their 157-141 blowout of Gilas Pilipinas in the last leg of the PBA All-Star week at the University of San Agustin gym.

“It was fun,” Slaughter said. “I wish we could play more together. It was once in an 11-year opportunity so hopefully there be more opportunities in the future.”

The Cebuano giants faced off in numerous college battles in the CESAFI with Fajardo towing University of Cebu and Slaughter the man in the middle for University of Visayas.

But the rivalry waned in the pros with either Slaughter or Fajardo having an injury at the time their teams face off on the court.

It took an All-Star game in a native Visayan land to bring them together.

“Nag-enjoy kami kaya kailangan naming ma-share tong panalo namin,” Fajardo said. “Thankful kami na nakalaro kami dito sa All-Star game.”

Fajardo registered 14 points, 18 rebounds, one assist, and one block in 24 minutes, while Slaughter added 11 points, eight boards, three assists and one block as the twin towers let their guards and wingmen run the show.

Whoever has the better stats hardly matters as Slaughter would love to play with Fajardo again.

“Absolutely. Right now, we have a 100 percent winning rate,” the Ginebra star said. “We win a lot together in DOTA, I think we make a good team.”
