IT’s not just Star that’s fielding a new import in the returning Ricardo Ratliffe against TNT KaTropa in their PBA Commissioner’s Cup matchup on Wednesday night.

GlobalPort is also set to parade a new reinforcement in Justin Harper as the Batang Pier try to revive their flat-lining bid for a playoff spot, taking on postseason-bound Meralco in the first game.

Batang Pier manager Bonnie Tan confirmed the development on the eve of the 4:15 p.m. matchup against the Bolts, making the 27-year-old Harper the team’s third import this conference after Sean Williams and Malcolm White.

The Batang Pier are running ninth in the standings with just two wins in eight games, but are still in contention in playoff race, motivating them to keep finding ways to turn the conference around, especially with Terrence Romeo on loan to Gilas Pilipinas.

“Since wala si Terrence, kailangan namin ng scorer na import,” Tan said.

The Batang Pier pin their hopes on Harper, an NBA veteran listed at 6’10” and who’s had stints with Orlando, Detroit, and most recently with the Philadelphia 76ers last March when he signed a 10-day contract.
