BARANGAY Ginebra picked up from where it left off as it coasted to a 107-95 victory over Blackwater in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Wednesday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The Gin Kings hardly showed rust after the All-Star break as they gained some separation in the second quarter before maintaining a sizeable lead to cruise to their third straight win – and fourth overall in five games overall – to grab solo third spot.

Justin Brownlee flirted with a triple-double with 27 points, nine boards, and eight assists, while LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar also provided major support to their import as the Gin Kings dealt the Elite their second straight loss and third overall against one win.

“I was really worried about this game after coming off a long break and we had most of our guys doing All-Star stuff,” Gin Kings coach Tim Cone admitted. “I was also worried about (Eric) Dawson and (Carlo) Lastimosa, and those guys coming out.”

“But our guys came out and defended well, and after that, they passed the ball well,” the champion was quick to add. “That’s kind of been our M.O. this conference: our ball movement.”

Indeed, the Gin Kings shared the wealth as they dished out 31 assists and knocked down 45 of their 87 shots for a solid 52 percent from the field.

Tenorio paced Ginebra's locals with 23 points, five assists, three boards, and two steals, while Aguilar added 19 points, 11 caroms, three assists, and two blocks.

Scottie Thompson scored just two points, but the promising rookie guard continued to show his rebounding prowess with nine boards for the Gin Kings, who led by as many as 18 points.

Dawson still tallied 26 points, 18 rebounds, and seven assists, while Lastimosa chipped in 21 markers but their production proved insufficient for the Elite.
