PH swimmer Alkhaldi flattered to see Gilas players cheering for her from the stands

INCHEON, South Korea — Aside from chasing a gold medal, Gilas Pilipinas has also been making an effort to boost the morale of the other Philippine athletes in the Asian Games.

Hands down the most popular team in the Philippine delegation and attracting huge crowds to their matches, the celebrated Philippine men’s national team is paying it forward as its players and coaches have been spotted in the boxing and swimming competitions of the Asiad to cheer for their fellow Filipino athletes.

Swimmer Jasmine Alkhaldi was one of those athletes who was watched by Gilas Pilipinas in the Asian Games. Alkhaldi said she was so surprised that the men’s basketball team came out to watch her compete.

“Super flattered. Parang talagang mahihimatay ako,” Alkhaldi joked.

Alkhaldi said she had a chance to thank Gilas Pilipinas for coming out to support in the Athletes' Village.

“I saw them in the village and I said thank you for watching me. They were so nice. May sign pa sila na ‘Puso.’ Talagang na-shock ako,” said Alkhaldi.
