GARY David’s agent Danny Espiritu has denied talk that the five-time PBA scoring champion is on his way to Barangay Ginebra.

But the outspoken player agent said he won’t be surprised if Ginebra management comes knocking on the door of the veteran gunner, adding he believes David is exactly the type the PBA's most popular franchise badly needs.

He can guide the younger players sa team,” said Espiritu, saying a shooter like David can thrive in coach Tim Cone's triangle offense.

“Kilala naman ng lahat si Gary, pag nagamit mo siya ng mabuti, he can be an asset. He is still one of the deadliest shooters in the league today,” he added.

But the agent, who handles more than a hundred PBA players, expressed apprehension that David might not be in the radar of Ginebra head coach Tim Cone.

Hindi natin alam,” he said.

Makukuha nila nang walang kapalit yan,” he said.

The surplus of players on the guard spot at Ginebra is another reason why Espiritu believes the Kings’ management is not taking advantage of David's free agency.

“Ang dami rin kasing players ng Ginebra. So pag kinuha nila si Gary, mapipilitan silang magbawas. Hindi talaga totoo yung balita na kinukuha siya ng Ginebra,” he said.

As of the moment, Espiritu also bared that negotiations with Mahindra Enforcers, the most aggressive in acquiring the Dinalupihan, Bataan pride, remains on hold as both sides are far from sealing a final deal.

“May inaayos pa kasi ang Mahindra eh. Kaya gustong gusto man nila, di pa nila makuha si Gary,” he said.

The other team in pursuit of David, Blackwater Elite, has not made any offer.

While idle, David has been regularly undergoing training and physical conditioning at Focus Athletics to keep his body in top shape.

Mahirap yung bigla kang may call-up tapos wala ka sa kundisyon,” said David.

The 37-year old former Gilas Pilipinas guard is also setting up a basketball clinic in his neighborhood in Montgomery in Quezon City to keep himself busy aside from playing daily pick-up games in their village.
