HENRY Walker asked for just one dagger of a three-pointer from Garvo Lanete at crunch time.

He willingly obliged by nailing not just one, but two back-breaking treys.

The last two of Lanete's six three pointers capped a huge fourth quarter blast by NLEX in a 111-99 comeback win over Rain or Shine in their PBA Governors Cup game on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The shooting guard out of San Beda led all NLEX locals in scoring with 21 points, and his six straight inside the final two minutes served as the final nail in the coffin of the Elasto Painters.

Lanete later disclosed Walker asked him to hit one from downtown in the hope of taking the fight out of a Rain or Shine side that played without import Jason Forte in the final 7:29 of the final quarter.

He did fire one shortly after the final two-minute mark for a 104-94 NLEX lead, only for Paul Lee to answer at the other end to trim back the deficit to seven.

But not to be denied, Lanete came through with the 'mother of of all daggers' when he struck anew from long range to viirtually clinch the Road Warriors' fourth win in five outings.

"Bago kasi 'yun sabi niya (Walker), please give me one," Lanete said recalling his conversation with the prolific MLEX import during the game.

"So after nun I told him, "I just didn't give you one, but two daggers."

In a way, Lanete, who was 6 of 9 from three-point range and 6 of 10 from the field overall, said it was his way of repaying the trust of Walker and the rest of his teammates.

"Nagtiwala si Henry sa akin. Sabi niya basta pagkapasa ko sa iyo itira ko kahit may bantay sa harap ko. Kaya sabi ko sa kanya, sige tira ko talaga a," he said. "I was just able to repay the trust na binigay sa akin ng import namin."

More than his heroics, the desire to keep NLEX in the hunt for a playoff berth in the season-ending conference served as Lanete's prime motivation.

"Kailangan kasi namin ng panalo kasi yung last three games crucial sa amin yun. Matalo lang kami ng isa, medyo alanganin na kami," he said.
