Columbian Dyip takes over from KIA when PBA Commissioner's Cup opens on April 22
The former KIA team will now be carrying the colors of Columbian Dyip in the PBA.

IT won't take long before PBA action resumes after the Philippine Cup Finals.

The Commissioner's Cup is set to start on April 22 with a doubleheader at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum as per a partial schedule the league released on Tuesday.

Runner-up TNT KaTropa, which lost to San Miguel Beer in six games in the finals last season, opens its title campaign against GlobalPort at 6:45 p.m.

Columbian Dyip, formerly Kia, finds out if its name change will bring a change in fortune as it takes on Blackwater in the curtain-raiser at 4:30 p.m.

PBA staff confirmed Kia's name change, saying franchise owner Columbian Autocar Corp. (CAR) has previously assigned the team's name to various products under the company umbrella.

In February, it was reported that Ayala Corp. was in talks to acquire the KIA distributorship in the Philippines from CAR. However, the PBA franchise was not part of the deal.

Crowd favorite Ginebra opens its bid on April 29, Sunday, against Rain or Shine.

Defending champion SMB and Magnolia understandably won't see action in the first seven playdates to take a breather after the all-Filipino finals.
