IT’S never too early to scout your opponent in the finals.

Just a day after Alaska booked the first finals ticket in the PBA Philippine Cup, Aces coach Alex Compton returned to the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday to watch Game Five of the other semifinal series between San Miguel Beer and Rain or Shine.

The American coach, whose team finished off GlobalPort with a 118-89 rout in Game Five on Tuesday, paid a visit to the press room at the half to request for a copy of the first-half stats of the game.

“Trabaho lang,” he said with a smile while chatting with PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III.
