Misfiring offense plus bad defense equals 'disaster' for RoS, laments Chris Tiu

CHRIS Tiu rued errors and defensive blunders did Rain or Shine in during an 87-92 loss to Blackwater in the PBA's final game of the year.

The Elasto Painters were in a pretty good position to go 2-0 (win-loss) in the PBA Philippine Cup, but turnovers and missed defensive assignments led to their downfall.

"Our defense was spotty today, we gave up a lot of open shots and most of their shots were unchallenged especially with a team that’s feeling confident," said Tiu.

"I guess it’s just a poor defensive game and complimented by a bad offensive game - disaster," he added.

Rain or Shine played without Maverick Ahanmisi and Jericho Cruz and Tiu believed no one among Rain or Shine's bench players stepped up in their absence.

"It's no excuse. I think there'a a chance for everyone to fill in, but today was just a rough a day in the office," Tiu continued. "We just have to go back to see what went wrong and be better next game."

The former Ateneo star led Rain or Shine with 14 points.

"We’re normally a high-scoring team and with 14 points as a team high, that goes to show that we need a lot of help offensively," Tiu said.
