Crowded backcourt prompted NLEX not to renew Cardona contract, explains Guiao
Mac Cardona is now a free agent after being left unsigned by NLEX.

CEBU CITY – One player that Cebuano basketball fans was looking forward to when they knew that the NLEX Road Warriors was coming to town was none other than “Captain Hook” himself, Macmac Cardona.

Safe to say, a lot of them went home disappointed with the former La Salle star nowhere to be found on NLEX’s bench.

Cardona’s absence was curtly explained by NLEX’s new head coach Yeng Guiao.

“His contract expired. We did not renew,” said the fiery bench tactician who just recently took over the Road Warriors squad after a successful stint with Rain or Shine.

Guiao went on to explain that as it is, he already has five guards on his roster with the latest addition being Carlo Lastimosa, who was acquired last month in exchange for James Forrester and a second round pick.

“I just have too many guards already. Plus we just added Carlo Lastimosa.”
