CALVIN Abueva rued some questionable calls in Alaska’s 107-101 loss to Meralco in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Friday night.

Although the Ace star didn’t mention which particular calls were debatable, there were a handful that spelled a difference in the match, including a foul called on Abueva on Jimmy Alapag who looked like he travelled off an inbound play late in the fourth quarter.

Abueva was in disbelief of the call that he just ran toward his bench and shook his head.

“Crucial game tapos ganun pa tinawag,” said Abueva, who led his team’s comeback that fell short.

The former NCAA MVP was also not satisfied his team’s effort or the lack of it, leaving them stuck in an early double-digit hole.

“Na-kulangan kasi kulang yung effort,” Abueva said. “Parang nanlambot pa bandang huli.”

Don’t blame Abueva, who was all heart and hustle in carrying the Aces on his back, scoring 10 of his team-high 27 points in payoff period.

Aces coach Alex Compton subbed Abueva out at the height of the comeback, before inserting him back less than minute later.

Scribes had hoped to get a comment from Compton about the game, but the American mentor had already left the building when they tried to reach him.
