CALVIN Abueva admitted he relishes the idea of showing San Miguel Beer the broom in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals that shifts to Game Four on Sunday at the Philsports Arena.

The pain of getting swept by the Beermen in last season’s Governors’ Cup still lingers in the Alaska star, who wants to exact vengeance this time.

“Talagang focused kami,” Abueva said after the Aces’ 82-75 Game Three victory on Friday that put them on the cusp of the crown. “Talagang gusto namin i-sweep ‘to eh dahil sa ginawa nila sa amin last conference.”

And the Aces have no plan to give the Beermen any more breathing room and allow the series to be extended the best-of-seven series any further.

“Parang masakit yun kung makakabangon pa sila e,” Abueva said. “Kaya kung pwede ng tapusin sa Sunday, tapusin na para hindi na rin mahirapan yung bawat isa sa amin.”

The Aces once again showed more desire than the Beermen in Game Three where they rallied from a double-digit halftime deficit to frustrate a Beermen side without main man June Mar Fajardo.

“Maganda yung rotation, depensa, maganda lahat,” Abueva said. “Hindi kami gumi-give up sa anumang play o depensa nila.”

Still, the flamboyant star, who averaged 11.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 25 minutes in the first three games of the series, is not taking the Beermen for granted.

“Hindi ko masabi eh. Tapusin muna bago (mag-celebrate).”
