CALVIN Abueva insisted he has moved on from a heartbreaking finals loss in the PBA Philippine Cup and proved it with an efficient performance for Alaska on Saturday in the Commissioner’s Cup.

The Aces star sparked the team’s 128-102 rout of Rain or Shine by scoring all his game-high 25 points in the first three quarters. He added eight boards, two assists, and two steals in 25 minutes.

“Hindi ko na iniisip 'yung bawi-bawi, nangyari na, parang past na ''yun e,” Abueva said of their historic letdown against San Miguel Beer. “Going backward na 'yun.”

“Eto naman forward ibang conference. Ibang datingan, ibang laro,” he added. “Kaya syempre mas hinihigitan mo. Maraming conference pa naman kaya siguro makakuha tayo kahit isa doon.”

The Aces squandered a 3-0 series lead against the Beermen and wound up being part of history for the wrong reason.

“Syempre hindi naman lahat ng bagay, ng momentum nasa atin, di ba. Merong talo, merong panalo,” Abueva said. “Pero syempre kaya mas nananalo tayo, mas hinihigitan pa natin 'yung performance natin para makarating dito sa next level.”

Proving his point, the former Rookie of the Year flashed his outside shooting against the E-Painters as he buried two three-pointers for an overall shooting clip of 9-of-16 from the fied.

“Syempre lahat ng mga 'yan, ineensayo 'rin, pinapractice,” Abueva said of his improved shooting. “Kaya siguro 'yung time na 'yun ba biglang lumabas 'yung shooting kaya gumanda 'yung performance.”

“’Di naman ako humahanap na tumira nang sa labas,” he added. “Syempre mas marami shooters sa amin. Mas natataon lang talaga na napapatiyempo, napapasok.”
