CALVIN Abueva sustained his efficient play for Alaska in its 108-100 win over Barako Bull on Saturday in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup.

The Aces star forward recorded his fifth double-double in the all-Filipino conference with 22 points and 13 boards on top of three assists.

Abueva thus moved up to fifth with the most double-doubles this conference, just behind June Mar Fajardo (10), Sean Anthony (7), Asi Taulava and Willie Wilson (6), and tied with Cliff Hodge with five.

But those above him in the list all average more than 30 minutes per game, while he came into the game against the Energy norming just under 20 minutes per game, yet he still regularly comes up with double-double figures.

He played 26 minutes, already a season high, against Barako.

But Abueva continues to down play his efficient statline, giving more concern to the Aces getting to the semifinals and eventually to the finals.

“Hindi ko naman inaano kung mag-double-double man ako, ang iniisip ko basta manalo ang team ko tapos makapunta ng semis at finals,” the Gilas Pilipinas standout said.
