CALVIN Abueba admitted frustration got the better of him and led to a sub-par performance in Alaska's 94-89 win over Rain or Shine during the final elimination playdate of the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday night at the Astrodome.

Abueva was in foul trouble for most of the playoff-type game and was eventually sent to the showers at the 5:38 mark of the fourth period with the Elasto Painters on top, 86-81.

He played for only 12 minutes and finished with four points on 2 of 7 shooting to go with four rebounds.

Thw Alaska undersized forward later said he was badly affected by the referees calls.

"Offline," he said of his game. "Konting bagay lang tawag na agad."

"Siyempre as a player, 'yung momentum mo nawawala. Nakaka-frustrate sa part ko."

But even in the absence of the team's acknowledged heart and soul, the Aces managed to pull this one off behind JVee Casio, RJ Jazul, Sonny Thoss, and Vic Manuel.

"Buti nga maganda din nilaro ng mga teammates ko," acknowledged Abueva.

At the same time, he's glad the Aces were able to secure a twice-to-beat edge against No. 7 seed Barangay Ginebra in the playoffs that begin on Saturday.

In the meantime, he's bracing for another hit from the Commissioner's Office.

"Fine na naman ito," he said, obviously referring to his criticism against officiating.
