RUMORS that June Mar Fajardo’s former University of Cebu teammate Brian Heruela is bound for San Miguel were fanned when the barrel-chested guard was seen in one of the Beermen’s recent games.

Heruela, however, was quick to dismiss the speculations when caught up with the former Blackwater guard as he hurriedly left the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“No, just like coach Charlie Dy (his agent) invited me to come here so I had to talk to him over a couple of stuff and support my boy June Mar,” said Heruela when asked about his presence at the Big Dome.

Talk that Heruela may end up reuniting with Fajardo at San Miguel were sparked after the 26th pick overall in the last PBA rookie draft was traded by Blackwater to Barako for Carlo Lastimosa.

Heruela, however, claimed that no official nor member of the San Miguel organization has ever approached him regarding any possible trade.

“No one approached me. Right now, I am with Barako Bull so I am looking forward to adjust to the new team and just prepare,” he added.

But if it happens, Heruela said he will be thrilled to play again alongside Fajardo, saying he has become so familiar with the game of the dominant big man who is a lock for his second straight MVP award.

“We got good chemistry since college. And I am really familiar with his game. Perhaps, I can squeeze out some more from him - if God permits,” said Heruela, adding he averaged around eight assists per game back when he was still playing with Fajardo at UC.

The wide-bodied Heruela is the assists leader in the league this season, averaging 5.64 per game.

“I think I can help him more. But like I said, we may have good chemistry since college but right now San Miguel has a very good backcourt and he (Fajardo) is improving a lot with them,” he said.

“That’ll be surprising (if I get to be reunited with June Mar) to be with him again, it’ll be amazing. But for now, my focus is with Barako,” he said.

Asked if he has already talked to Fajardo after he was traded to Barako, Herule nodded.

“Yeah. But I just said good luck sa game and nothing about trades, just about the game,” he politely responded.
