THE chances that Kiefer Ravena would end up in the same team with father Bong on draft day is slim to none, but the latter is pleased with the prospect of his son playing under the same coach that helped him during his playing days.

The consensus No. 2 after Fil-German Christian Standhardinger, former Ateneo star Kiefer is expected to be picked by veteran coach Yeng Guiao for NLEX.

Meanwhile, TNT, where Bong is an assistant coach, will pick ninth.

"I've been with coach Yeng since amateur pa ako. I know coach Yeng na matuturuan niya nang mabuti si Kief. Si Kief naman very coachable," he said.

Bong, knew his son was ready for the pros, and was even more convinced during the combine as Kiefer topped three of five tests — vertical leap, speed, and agility.

“I was surprised, actually very surprised,” Bong said.

“He is trained as a competitor talaga, he did not take it slow. Go hard lagi siya.”

Bong, named Rookie of the Year award after being picked fifth in the 1992 draft, has only a few words of advice for Kiefer as he turns pro.

"Work harder, 'yun lang," he said.
