BLACKWATER gets an added reinforcement against Rain or Shine when it parades Asian import Iwad Qahwash in their PBA Governors Cup game Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The 28-year-old guard was among the first Asian players to arrive in the country for the season-ending conference, but will only play in his first game with the Elite in the 4:30 p.m. encounter.

The Palestinian player just arrived from China two days ago where he conducted a two-week basketball clinic courtesy of a popular shoe apparel which serves as one of Qahwash’s sponsors.

His debut game comes at a time when the team is coming off a resounding 100-98 win over Star last week to even its record at 1-1.

Qahwash is best remembered for being part of the Palestine team that stunned Gilas Pilipinas in its opening game during the 2015 FIBA Asia Men's Championship in Changsha, China.

Coach Leo Isaac however, is a bit wary of how Qahwash will mesh with the Elite as he’s playing for the first time a week since the conference got underway.

“Marami na rin siyang na-miss, kumbaga sa estudyante sampung araw kang absent. Pagbalik mo, marami ka ng na-miss na leksyon,” said Isaac.

“Baka mag make–up siya, extended hours sa pag-alalay sa kanya para makita niya yung mga lessons na na-miss nya,” added the former PBA player.

Whatever, he still welcomes the addition of the Palestinian guard to the Blackwater roster.

“He’ll definitely be a big help, he’s full of energy,” said Isaac.
