GINEBRA may be on a high after its recent title defense, but that should also keep the squad grounded in its bid for more championships.

San Miguel Corp. boss Ramon S. Ang reminded one of his three PBA teams to keep its feet on the ground following its successful defense of the Governors Cup championship at the expense of Meralco in a best-of-seven series that went the distance.

"Ang laban na 'to ay gitgitan. Sana po tayo maging humble at 'wag ho tayong magyabang at baka hindi na tayo bigyan ng Diyos ng biyaya," Ang said as he addressed the crowd on Monday night during the team's victory party at the SMC compound.

"So para sa mga kasama ko, please be humble and be nice to everybody," he added. "This is just a basketball team and this is just entertainment for our countrymen."

Ang graced the Gin Kings with his presence this time after being absent from San Miguel Beer's championship celebrations in the Philippine Cup and Commissioner's Cup due to previous commitments.

The SMC boss acknowledged their supporters for comprising most of the record attendance of over 50,000 fans in each of the last two games.

"Salamat sa lahat ng fans. Kundi dahil sa inyo, wala po tayo dito ngayong gabi," Ang said, before raising his glass in front of the crowd.
