Beau Belga says hilarious 'overreaction' in scuffle with McMorrow is serious business
Beau Belga will never win an acting award for this scuffle with Barako Bull import Liam McMorrow, but the Rain or Shine banger says he needs to do the 'dirty work.' Jaime Campos

MOST fans found Beau Belga's 'overreaction' in a rebound scuffle with Barako Bull import Liam McMorrow funny.

Belga, however, insisted it's serious business.

“Hindi ako natawa sa sarili ko kasi seryoso ako 'nun," said Belga of the hilarious jersey pulling incident that took place with Barako Bull in the lead, 110-103, and time down to 22.3 seconds. "Kasi gusto ko nga nun magalit siya, mapikon siya hanggang sa mawala siya sa focus sa laro nun.”

the 'Extra Rice' frontliner failed, miserably, on both fronts. He failed to get under McMorrow's skin and Rain or Shine failed to mount fightback and lost, 103-112.

Still, Belga has no regrets. Neither is he apologetic about his tactics.

“Gusto ko kasi na tumawag ng F1 (flagrant foul penalty 1) eh. Kasi yung ganung insidente, may F1 ka tapos ire-review. Kaso wala eh. E di wala,” said Belga of the play that was whistled for a double foul instead.

They Said It!

If he actually puts the same effort with his antics in rebounding and boxing out he can be a great player in the league. Kaso inuuna yung antics eh. Ang layo inabot nung tumbling eh haha!”  michaeljacket00

Belga said someone has to get into the nerves of McMorrow, one of the most dominant imports in the league today.

“Kaso magaling si McMorrow eh. Kahit anong depensa ang gawin mo pagka ganun kalaki ang dedepensahan mo, mahihirapan ka talaga,” he said.

The outspoken Gubat, Sorsogon pride bared he likes to get in opponents' heads long before he made the jump to the PBA.

“Ganun naman eh. Kailangan humanap ka ng advantage mo lagi. Part naman ng laro ang ganun eh, psy war. Kanya kanyang pikunan lang yan, pag nagpadala ka, talo ka,” said the former PCU Dolphin.

Belga bared how Alaska forward Calvin Abueva would also get into his nerves most of the time.

“Kailangan kung marunong ka magbigay, marunong ka rin tumanggap,” said the Rain or Shine enforcer. “Pang add naman ng spice sa game 'yan eh. Dagdag sa entertainment na rin. Pero kami naman, hindi kami yung masasamang tao na nanakit."

Belga also insisted Rain or Shine players, normally dubbed by fans as physical, absorbed a lot of punishment in their Commissioner’s Cup finals series against Talk n Text.

“Kita niyo naman sa Talk n’ Text, bugbog kami. Pero gumaganti ba kami ng panakit? Hindi. Nasa loob ng allowed physicality ang ginagawa namin,” he said.

McMorrow also didn't seem to mind Belga's antics.

“No he didn’t hurt me. Not at all. He didn’t even use words. He didn’t say anything to me,” said McMorrow. "But that’s what he does. It’s his game. I played against a lot worse than that.

“The coach prepared me for him and they said they’re gonna try to do that and the other big guys.”
