IT will be all business for Rain or Shine big man Beau Belga on Friday as they take on former Painters teammate and now San Miguel Beer import Arizona Reid at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The heavyweight Rain or Shine forward said the numerous playoff wars they fought together with Reid through three seasons were special for him, but that won’t matter come game time.

“Sa team naman ng Rain or Shine, lahat close eh. Close siya (Reid) sa amin, walang favoritism na like close si AZ kay ganito or kay ganyan kaya mahirap na makalaban mo ang dati mong teammate kasi parang kapatid na ang turing namin sa kanya,” Belga told on Thursday.

In fact, the former High Point standout even took Rain or Shine to last season’s Governors Cup Finals, where the Elasto Painters eventually lost to San Mig (now Purefoods Star), 3-2. The 6-foot-4 Reid also won PBA Best Import awards.

“Ganun talaga, trabaho naman natin ito and for sure, the same thing din naman, ganun siguro si AZ sa amin, di kami puwede magpa-easy easy sa laro,” he added.

One thing is sure, Belga said once he and the rest of the Elasto Painters step on the floor, they won’t give an inch to Reid and the Beermen, who are fighting for playoff survival.

“Wala naman kaming pinipili. Wala naman kaming sinasanto and for sure, same thing din naman si AZ, di rin siya magre-relax sa amin saka di siya magbibigay kasi trabaho namin ito kaya all-out talaga kami,” vowed the 28-year-old former Philippine Christian University standout.

Rain or Shine enters Friday’s game tied for second with Meralco at 5-2.

On the other hand, San Miguel occupies the 11th spot with its anemic 2-6 win-loss card.

A win by the Elasto Painters will enhance their chances for a top-two finish and a chance to grab one of the twice-to-beat incentives.
