Waiting game over, but Gelo Alolino aware hard part about to begin in PBA career
Gelo Alolino is made the No. 2 pick in the regular PBA draft by Phoenix. Jerome Ascano

GELO Alolino was expected to go high in the PBA regular draft on Sunday.

And he did, as Phoenix tabbed him with the second overall pick of the annual event at the Robinsons Place Manila.

But the former National University star bared that he couldn't help but be nervous until his name was called by league commissioner Chito Narvasa.

"Nung nakaupo ako talagang kabado ako, 'yung tuhod ko lumulutang. Then once na narinig ko name ko, sigh of relief talaga. Andito na ako, dream come true," said the former UAAP champion.

"Wala akong idea (na kukunin ako ng Phoenix). Pero nag workout ako sa kanila once."

The real work, though, starts now.

The playmaker from Las Pinas City also said he is looking forward to learning from Phoenix guard Simon Enciso.

"I'm really excited now to learn more. Di ako magre-relax bibigay ko pa kung ano kaya ko," he said. "Nage-expect ako na matuto sa kanya (Enciso), excited ako to play with him. Tulungan lang."
